'Mantis and Spekboom Starry Sky' art print

I had a praying mantis living in my spekboom plant (AKA Bacon Tree, Pork Bush, Elephant's Food, Elephant Bush, Dwarf Jade Plant). This was right outside my front door. I got to see her almost everyday. It was amazing to watch her catching insects out of mid-air! We became friends. And as those who are friends of artists will know, a portrait was in order. This is the print version of the original artwork.

All the art prints for sale in my shop are inspired by my love of nature. I love the idea that in small spaces or in built up cities art gives us the chance to see the beauty of the natural world everyday. Line art and ink illustrations are such a pure and quick way to capture that! I love to paint and draw fauna and flora and I love finding indigenous South African plants and critters that spark my creativity. I try to reflect the magic and beauty I find my environment in the hopes that these artworks may serve as inspiration for you to find the magic in your life.
